Moving to a new home is an exciting adventure, but it also comes with a lot of responsibilities. One of the most important aspects to consider is your home security. By moving your existing security system with you, you can maintain peace of mind and ensure your new residence is protected from day one.
Moving Checklist
Call Security ONE First
If you haven’t already, we suggest that you call us to discuss all the options we have available for you and your new home. At a minimum, you should call at least 30 days prior to your anticipated moving date.
Update Your Responder List
If your Responder List will change due to your move, make sure your new contacts have access to the secured premises, know your verbal security password, and have a phone number to reach in case of emergency.
Update Your Billing Address
Make sure to update your billing information. This is not necessarily the address of your system’s location; it is the address where you prefer to receive your bill. You can update your Billing Address by logging into your Security ONE portal and updating your account settings.
New Yard Signs and Decals
Make sure your new location includes visible Security ONE yard signs and window decals. You can order new yard signs and decals by contacting support.
Can You Save on Insurance?
Many insurance companies offer discounts on homeowner’s insurance to customers who have monitored security systems and can provide an Alarm Monitoring Certificate. Call your insurance provider to see if you qualify.
Perform A System Test
Once your system has been installed, be sure to run a test and ensure that all your devices are working properly.

Can I bring my Security ONE security system with me to my new home?
If you have a Security ONE Smart Home Security System we would be happy to relocate them to your new home.
We recommend calling us at least 30 days before your new move to discuss which products and services are right for your new home.
Do I have to cancel my existing contract when I move?
In most cases, yes. Security ONE monitoring contracts are typically tied to the location of the home being monitored. However, there are certain exceptions.
To avoid early cancellation fees, call us today so that we can help plan your move and get you connected and protected in your new place.
Is there anything else I need to do once my security system is installed and activated in my new home?
If you’ve followed the moving checklist above this FAQ, your system has been tested and is working properly, then you’re good to go! However, we do have a few more tips that can help keep you safe as you settle into your new neighbourhood:
- Enable automatic payment in your Billing Settings to help ensure that you never miss a monthly payment.
- Establish home safety rules for children and visitors, such as an evacuation route for your family members in case of a fire.
- Be discreet with expensive purchases and do not leave large boxes on the curb that might lure thieves.
