Educate Employees
Most employees don’t even realize that taking data is dangerous, let alone wrong. Educate your employees on how valuable data is as well as what constitutes data theft.
Have Clear Policies
Come up with a clear policy on data handling. Common issues include using personal smartphones to access private company data, emailing company information to or from a private email account or uploading it to the cloud.
Strict Permissions
Not all everyone need access to everything. By using strict permissions your data is only accessible by your most trusted employees and those who actually need the data.
Monitor Activity
Monitor employees for large amounts of data transfer, employees that access company data at odd hours. While having employees that are willing to burn the midnight oil is a great thing, it’s still a good idea to keep an eye open.
