Video As A Deterrent

Local Alarm Company Helped To Catch Subway Robber

A local security alarm company gets the credit for helping to catch the man who allegedly robbed Subway restaurants five time in Windsor.
Security One Alarm Systems says their hold up alarm system, combined with video surveillance, helped to identify the suspect.
“We are pleased to hear the reports that no one was injured during this string of robberies,” said director of marketing Corey Robertson, who noted Security One provided video footage to Windsor Police”
“The video surveillance footage provided showed a clear image of the individual being sought by police,” he said.
Robertson said police were contacted by Security One within 18 seconds of having received a “Hold Up” alarm and were dispatched with 34 seconds later.
Police arrested a man allegedly responsible for the robberies in Toronto.
In each robbery, a lone male suspect entered the restaurants and demanded money from the tills. No weapon was seen in any of the incidents.
Robertson praised video surveillance for being a very effective tool to combat crime, noting crime stats from Windsor Police show a break and enter, or attempted break and enter, happens almost every 5.5 hours in the city.
“Video surveillance is an excellent deterrent to crime, and helps in the identification of suspects, as was the case in this instance.”
